We arrived on the island, with excitement and hope
The taxi to the hotel, I thought was a joke
With it’s low profile wheels
And it’s blacked out windows
Maybe it would have been easier, if we had taken a boat

The room wasn’t ready, but there is no surprise
So we headed to the bar, and thought we would be wise
Three beers we ordered
Well it was our first day
Sat there by the sea, under the scorching skies

The cricket wasn’t bad but the people were better
A day with the Bajan’s, and beautiful weather
They educated us
In what we should drink
So out came the rum and it felt like forever

By the end of play we had learned so much
From Soda and coke to the famous rum punch
The Cockspur Rum
Certainly had many friends
So off to the ‘Gap’ for more to touch

The famous ‘Ship Inn’ is where we sat
Three rum and coke’s appeared on a bar mat
With Bajan fish cakes
And packets of crisps
The three of us engaged in such a great chat

The barman was wise but we were older
It was time for one of us to change to the soda
The Cockspur bottle
Got less and less
As the rounds seemed to get rolled over and over

This great day ended in the way it had begun
With friends together in a taxi having fun
Never to be forgotten

Always dreamt I’d be at this match,
Freddie flying in, Colly what a catch!
Sitting in the stands drinking Cockspur rum,
Aussies 10 for 2 Ponting feeling glum

Sitting by my side would have to be my dad,
He loves his test match cricket in fact he's cricket mad,
From Botham through to Pietersen he loves those big six smashes,
Now lets get down to Cardiff win back those special Ashes!
